Who are the leaders in Career Preparation?
We are the teachers, leaders, the site reps, district managers, and directors of programs that prepare young people and adults for their future in the world of work. We are the counselors, the employer outreach workers, and the CalWorks staff that assist individuals in entering or re-entering the world of work. We are the career technology specialists, and Partnership Academy staff who design and implement programs to provide real-life applications of academic learning in the context of a career.
We are the California Association of Leaders in Career Preparation, CALCP.
Why are we here?
We are the umbrella organization that brings together the array of folks listed above in order to improve career preparation across California.
What can we do for you?
CALCP provides regional workshops to disseminate up-to-date information on state legislation, innovation in teaching and curriculum, and school reform. Our organization also jointly sponsors the statewide annual CALCP/CAROCP conference. We actively work with legislators to support legislation that enables you to assist more people with great resources.
CALCP maintains a listserv, CALCP Alert, and this Web site to keep members and its partners up-to-date with the latest news about career preparation from the state and local level.
Our Board includes representatives from the California Curriculum Coordinating Council, School-to-Career, California Association of Regional Occupational Centers and Programs, and the California Department of Education, and vocational education leaders from the northern and southern part of our state. Together we share information and plan events to assist you and your work.
